Local Diving
We are extremely fortunate that we are located very close to some of the best diving that the west coast of Ireland has to offer. Our local sites can be dived all year round although a drysuit would be recommended for the winter months. It is quite rare that due to the weather we would be unable to dive some of our sites, both shore and boat dives. Malinbeg and St. Johns Point offer a number of extremely good shore dives and the waters around the Sliabh Liag peninsula offer numerous excellent boat dives with depths ranging from 10m to 40m+. With reasonable weather the visibility and sea life around the coast of Donegal is excellent and in the summer months it is common to sea dolphins and basking sharks, especially during July and August.
For visiting divers we can offer guided dives, both shore and boat. For boat diving with larger groups we use 'The Nuala Star' a fully equipped vessel skippered by Paddy Byrne, another local of the area. Along with taking visiting divers to the local dive sites we like to explain the history of the area and give a more in depth understanding of local flora and fauna. With prior discussion and planning we can organise trips further away to some of the more remote dive sites, which are vary rarely visited due to their remoteness. An example of this would be the massive sea stack north of the village of Glencolmcille called “An Tór Mór”. We also use a rib for our local diving in the Teelin/Sliabh Liag area. Please see below for more details of the various dive sites and feel free to contact us with any special itineraries you may wish to plan.
