Frequently asked questions
Q. Do you need to be a very good swimmer to start diver training?.
A. No. It is a requirement to do a 200m swim to complete the Open Water Course but there is no time limit so even an average swimmer easily manages it.
Q. Do i need a medical from a doctor?
A. If you answer ‘yes’ to any of the questions on the medical questionnaire you must see a doctor to get medical clearance before starting training.
Q. If I have previously trained with another diving organisation can i transfer to the PADI system?.
A. Yes. Procedures are in place to allow divers trained through another organisation to transfer to the PADI system.
Q. Is diving dangerous ?
A. There is of course an element of risk when taking part in an adventure sport such as scuba diving, however, accidents are rare. With proper training and care diving is an extremely safe sport. It is very important that divers recognise their level of training and experience and do not exceed their limits and training.
Q. Do i have to pay for a course prior to starting?
A. No. A booking deposit is required and the remainder of the balance can be paid over the duration of the course.
Q. How quick can i progress through the courses?
A. PADI has guidelines and prerequisites for each course to make sure the diver has the correct training and level of experience. Please visit the PADI website for the details. www.padi.com
